Tom Lidester (Fall 1970)

Thomas J. Lidester, age 56 of West Lafayette, died on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at University Place. Born in Lafayette on January 9, 1952, he was the son of Dorothy Ann (Clifford) Lidester of Lafayette and the late Francis Lee Lidester. His marriage was to Julie A. (Center) Lidester on January 12, 1980, and she survives.
 
He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University and his MBA from the Krannert School of Management at Purdue.
 
Tom was a self-employed building contractor for Lidester Homes LLC since 2001. He was previously employed at Kirby Risk for 23 years. He was a member of The Church of the Blessed Sacrament in West Lafayette and the John Purdue Club. He enjoyed fishing at the lake and going to Purdue football and basketball games.
 
Surviving with his wife and mother are five daughters: Jami Talbert (husband, Darrell) of Indianapolis, Kimberly Lidester of Lafayette, Nicole Lidester of Indianapolis, Mary Potts (husband, Daniel) of Louisville, KY, and Anne Mansfield (husband, Christopher) of Denver, CO, two sons: Frank and John Lidester both of West Lafayette, two sisters: Linda LeVeillee (husband, Michael) of Sante, CA and Diane Mahalko (husband, James) of Beech Grove, IL, and a brother: David Lidester (wife, Janelle) of Racine, WI. Also surviving are five grandchildren: Jacob and Chloe Talbert, Sophia Breedlove, and Haley and Grace Mansfield. Preceded in death by an infant child, and a sister, Joni Marie Lidester. Tom enjoyed the gift of his family. He was a faithful, lifelong member of the Roman Catholic Church. During his last 7 years, he lovingly built 24 homes in reverence of The Holy Family. Tom was especially dedicated to St. Joseph, the carpenter and earthly father of Jesus.
 
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lafayette Diocese, Priest Retirement Fund. Visitation from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Hippensteel Funeral Home with Rosary service at 5:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. Saturday at The Church of the Blessed Sacrament, West Lafayette. Father David Buckles officiating. Burial to follow at St. Boniface Cemetery.
